About this event

One wild precious life’ : a writing practice rooted in love…

with Kerri ní Dochartaigh

September 4th, 10:30-12:30 BST, online, live ticket: £20, playback-only: £10

(recording will be sent out within a week after end of event)

In this workshop we will explore journaling as a sacred, devotional practice. We will work with poetry, nature observation, ritual and bodily listening in order to weave a daily writing rhythm into our lives.

Journaling supports our nervous system, helps balance the realms of our mental, emotional and physical being, and is an accessible, beautiful pathway towards deep solace and joy.

What is it, as the poet Mary Oliver asked of us, that we will do with this one wild and precious life of ours? The way we love each day is the way we live a life. Let’s find ways, in circle, to devote ourselves to our lives, no matter what each day holds.

This workshop is open to everyone at all stages of a writing path.

Kerri ní Dochartaigh is a mother, writer, holder and grower. She is moved by the way we tend and attend: to ourselves; to one another; to the living world. She has written for The Guardian, BBC, RTE, The Irish Times and others. She mentors and teaches worldwide. Her work currently explores ideas of one-anotherness, interconnectedness and ecologies of care. Her first book, Thin Places, was published by Canongate in Spring 2021, for which she was awarded the Butler Literary Award 2022, and highly commended for the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing 2021. Cacophony of Bone was published by Canongate in May 2023 and was longlisted for the Wainwright Prize for Nature Writing 2023. She lives in the west of Ireland with her family.
