Event description

Get Vocal with OneSound's Artistic Director in London's iconic Westminster Central Hall.

OneSound is one of the UK's leading national Christian youth ensembles. Open to all young adults aged 16-26, OneSound: Get Vocal offers you the opportunity to learn some of OneSound's contemporary arrangements of worship songs in a broad range of styles. Over the three hours you will experience what OneSound is, how OneSound works, and discover why our members love OneSound and the OneSound community.

James Corden Late Late Show at Westminster Central Hall

Westminster Central Hall was the venue for James Corden's London The Late Late Show this year. Whilst we cannot guarantee that we'll be as funny as JC, we're pretty confident that we'd give any Carpool Karaoke a run for it's money!

What will happen?

You'll be met by one of the super friendly OneSound members, and shown into Central Hall, where you'll meet OneSound's Artistic Director, Matt Beckingham. During the session you will warm-up, explore some great music including some of the bespoke arrangments OneSound is famous for, and have plenty of opportunity to chat to existing members, and Matt, over some refreshments and nibbles.

Artistic Director, Matt BeckinghamOneSound: Get Vocal will be led by Artistic Director, Matt Beckingham. Alongside OneSound, Matt has worked for organisations including; London Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Chorus, London Philharmonic Choir, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Berlin Radio Choir, Opera North, Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia.

OneSound: Get Vocal takes place in London, Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham. The London event is being hosted at Westminster Central Hall, which is opposite Wesminster Abbey, a stones throw from the Houses of Parliamant, in the heart of the capital.

Who is it for?

The workshop is open to all young adults aged 16-26. Whether you're a seasoned professional, or only ever sing in the shower, you are welcome to join us and develop your voice, with expert leadership on some great worship music.

What's next?

OneSound: Get Vocal is an event by itself, which anyone is welcome to come along to. We're confident that after the session you'll be keen to get another 'OneSound fix' pretty quick, and so we will give you details about how you can join OneSound and take part on a regular basis, should you want to!

What others say?

Nigel Briggs, Worship and Creative Director, Trent Vineyard

"It's very special when you discover something fresh, and 'One sound' is very special. The work Matt and the team does is truly inspirational. It’s not easy creating fertile ground for people to grow their gifts and talents in, and yet Matt makes it look easy. This work needs to grow deep and wide to reach more and more."

The Revd Dr. Leslie Griffiths, The Lord Griffiths of Burry Port

"Music – to suit the mood, for the good of all, the food of love. Song – to carry our praise, give voice to our prayers. One Sound – organised to bring all this together in a fellowship of wonder, love and praise. Brilliant."

Revd Steven Wild, Methodist President of Conference 2015-16

"One Sound is now going to inspire a new generation of gifted young musicians to use their God-given gifts, increase their faith and inspire the wider church and community... It is my hope that all this and the choral taster sessions will bring about lots of fun and friendship for young people in the church."

I don't really sing, but do play an instrument. Can I get involved?

OneSound: Get Vocal is a singing workshop, but the full OneSound ensemble includes a band (drums, guitars, piano, percussion etc) plus a pops horn section, and some other instruments. Whilst we won't be able to accomodate instruments at Get Vocal, please do get in touch as we have lots of other opportunities for instrumentalists.

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

OneSound: Get Vocal is for young adults aged 16-26. If you are 15 or below, drop us a line as we have other opportunities for younger musicians, including regional choirs.
