The aims of the course are to give you an:

• Understanding of what coaching is and where it can support you in your role;

• Opportunity to develop and apply the core skills of coaching in all areas of your life;

• Understanding of the tools and models used to structure coaching conversations, giving and receiving feedback and direct communication;

• Ability to identify areas where you could adopt a coaching approach to achieve better outcomes and the confidence to develop and apply these skills;

Duration / Delivery

The programme will be delivered over 4 half days and it’s important you are able to attend all sessions.

Tuesday 16 September – 9.30-13.00
Thursday 9 October - 9.30-13.00
Thursday 30 October – 9.30-13.00
Thursday 4 December – 9.30 -13.00

We deliver this programme in partnership with colleagues in South Lanarkshire Council, Argyll and Bute Council and Highland Council.

Contents

The programme is a blend of theory and practice. It will give you the opportunity to develop your own style of coaching, and communication in general, and to reflect on your own practice through giving and receiving developmental feedback.

The programme is also very interactive, so please come prepared to engage fully in the process. Please bring along current issues that you are comfortable to share during the coaching practice sessions.
