FREE ONLINE WORKSHOP | As has become tradition, Terence Wilde will be running a free online creative workshop for the Jennifer Lauren Gallery, to highlight and remind people about World Mental Health Day 2025. Poor mental health is not inevitable, and World Mental Health Day is an opportunity for us all to talk about mental health and consider how, together, we can help everyone have better mental health. The theme this year is ‘access to services – mental health in catastrophes and emergencies.’ We both know all too well the importance of these services for everyone, no matter your age. Please take pause to reach out to people you haven’t heard from in a while, as you never know how important that conversation could be, or even just how important that message might be in that moment.

World Mental Health Day is on 10 October, but the workshop will be held on Monday 13 October 6-7:30pm BST on Zoom

‘Colour Your Life workshop’ – Terence has chosen the work of Austrian artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000) as the inspiration for this year's workshop. His work focused on the experience of viewer, and he did not like using straight lines. “I wanted to share my love of his work, especially his original use of colour and his unruly artistic vision. Some common themes in Hundertwasser's work are bright uplifting colours, organic forms, and a reconciliation of humans with nature.”

In the workshop, Terence will introduce you to images of Hundertwasser's work, and you will be creating drawings in response, using irregular (not straight) lines. Colour will be added using any mediums you have available.

Art Materials needed:

- Paper (thicker paper rather than normal printer style paper thickish if possible)

- A pencil and black pen

- Different coloured materials to make marks with

- If possible, but not mandatory if you don’t have them, Terence will demonstrate a scraper board effect using oil pastels and black acrylic or poster paint, so if you have those materials, it would be good for you to have them available.

A Zoom link will be emailed closer to the time
