During the Easter and summer holidays, we're hosting several one-day creative writing masterclasses to support your writing practice – some held in the Jubilee Library in Brighton and some online

Finishing the first draft of your novel is a huge achievement, but unfortunately no first draft is perfect - which is where editing comes in. This masterclass offers an in-depth exploration of the editing process, from solidifying your intentions through close reading, to tightening plot and character arcs, to ensuring that your chosen themes are being effectively communicated. Full of tips and strategies honed from over 20 years of novel writing, this class will show just how many tools you have at your disposal when editing - and just how satisfying it can be when you've learned to use them effectively.Stefan Mohamed is an award-winning author, poet, editor and creative writing tutor based in Bristol. He graduated from Kingston University in 2010 with a First in creative writing, and later that year won the inaugural Sony Reader Award for Unpublished Writers (part of the Dylan Thomas Prize). In 2021, he was the recipient of the Sansom Award for Bristol Writers (part of the Bristol Short Story Prize). He is the author of five novels (The Bitter Sixteen Trilogy, Falling Leaves and The House on Utopia Way) and four books of poetry (PANIC!, The Marketplace of Ideas, Farewell Tour and Something Man-Made Is Here And It Is Dangerous).

The workshop is part of a series of one-day masterclasses held in the Easter and summer holidays. They are open to existing students on the Creative Writing Programme and other writers looking to improve specific areas of their writing craft.
