Online Debate: A World Without Borders

Overview

Are political borders an artificial hindrance to freedom and prosperity, or necessary fences between neighbours?

This is a meeting in our associated 104 Online Debate Club.

ONLINE DEBATE ON ZOOM

No passports, no queues, no “Nothing to declare” – just one big planet. Sounds brilliant… or chaotic? Join our lively debate on the motion “This House Believes in a world without borders.” Some people say it would unlock global freedom, opportunity, and connection. Other people say it could create security headaches and blur national identities. Expect sharp arguments, bold ideas, and maybe a few friendly verbal border disputes. The debate is online, so you can jump in from absolutely anywhere on Earth – no borders! Come watch, think, and have your say.

A vote will be taken before and after the debate.

During the first half of the meeting, there will be an improvised mini-debate session, where anyone may get called to defend or oppose a motion in 2 minutes (voluntarily, of course).

During the main debate, 3 debaters will propose the motion, 3 debaters will oppose it, and YOU may give your opinion during Floor Contributions.
