Description

Online engagement: communicating animal research via social media and websites

Aim of the day

This is a workshop for those who are interested in communicating animal research online. Whether it’s via a website or social media, we will guide you through the best way to effectively engage with the public online.

Session information

The session will cover three main areas.

Social Media - Social media platforms are a fantastic tool for spreading information, however talking about animal research online can be tricky business. We will look at different ways of promoting animal research on social media, and measuring its impact.

Websites - Our websites play a key part in how the public, journalists and activists learn about our animal research. We will look at how to create informative and open animal research websites including the use of statements, imagery and case studies.

Crisis Communication - Animal rights groups are increasingly using a mix of social and traditional media to build their campaigns. We analyse animal rights campaigns and look at how to combat them.

Course notes and other supporting materials will be made available to participants online after the workshop.
