Online Improv Workshop: Playing Non-Comedy

Improv is heading more and more towards comedy. Though this is a recipe for a very entertaining night, we miss improv that can tell a story without the pressure of being funny and just for the sake of telling a good story. This workshop gives us techniques that help us focus on story, reality, and emotion.What to expect:

• Building compelling stories
• Emphasizing the reality of the scene
• Emotion-based scenes and exercises

The Nursery Sunday Classes

We work hard to provide a welcoming environment for all improvisers. In order to give space to different experiences and identities, the Nursery has worked to provide opportunities for specific groups to meet, connect, and improvise with one another. Each workshop will cover different topics depending on the instructor. Sometimes sessions will be aimed at particular skills, issues and questions, and other times they will simply be a place for people to come together and play.

Raffi Feghali is a performer, peacebuilder, and trainer based in Beirut – Lebanon. As a performer, he's acted in 100s of performances all over Lebanon, the Arab World, Europe, and USA. He's worked with numerous renowned directors in Lebanon and abroad. Raffi is an improviser who contributed to the creation of a modest improv scene in Beirut through performances and training as well as through the creation of an improvisational theatre-based organization, that he left as a fully functioning entity after 8 years to pursue an independent touring career. 

This intermediate workshop runs Sunday 14 November, 5 - 7.30 pm BST.

Intermediate (3months+) These classes will be opportunities to add tools to your growing toolbox. Normally these classes will expect players to be confident playing scenes. These classes will provide practice and specific new skills.

We offer full and partial scholarships for all online courses in order to make sure that the fun and community of improvisation is available to as many people as possible across the globe.
