Event Information
About this event
PLEASE NOTE - 1 August 2020 is NOT the first day of the course, this is the date you need to register your interest by. The course can be accessed flexibly over a 5 week period, at at time to suit you.
Youth Scotland are delighted to partner with Place2Be to bring valuable mental health training to youth workers (paid and voluntary) across Scotland, particularly in this challenging time of a pandemic.
Place2Be is a children’s mental health charity with 25 years’ experience providing direct therapeutic support in primary and secondary schools. Developed from our work in schools we have created an online Introduction to Mental Health suitable for adults who work with children in a range of settings.
• 5-week programme (c.1-1.5 hours per week)
• Can be accessed from any device at a time to suit the participant
• Open to youth workers (paid and voluntary) working in a range of settings
The 5-week online programme consists of 4 content modules, each of which explores a different area of mental health and wellbeing:
1. Understanding Mental Health and Wellbeing 💭
Introduces factors that contribute to positive mental health and wellbeing.
2. Nature and Nurture 🌱
How early experiences shape the way we perceive ourselves and relate to others, and how experiences create the pathways in the brain that impact our development.
3. How can I help? 👂🏽
We consider what a child’s behaviour might be communicating about their underlying needs, and what it might tell you about their early life experiences.
4. Mental Health: everybody’s business 👨👩👧👦
We reflect on the importance of positive mental health for everyone, with a focus on adults working with children and parents.
