About this Event

***U.K. schools only***

Software engineers are the brains behind our everyday software, from your favourite app to your favourite computer game. Once pupils start to learn about writing code their imagination can become a reality.

This coding workshop will run for 1 1/2 hours and will take place over Microsoft Teams. (you don't need to have MS Teams account to access the workshop).

Pupils will use online Scratch – a graphical programming tool created by MIT to inspire the next generation of software engineers, to create their very own version of Pong.

Who's the workshop for?

  • Key stage 2 pupils: year 5 or 6 (class size of up to 30 max)

What will the workshop include?

  • Introduction to Renishaw and what we do.
  • What software engineers do in our company?
  • Create an interactive game using scratch

To have the best experience your class will need access to:

  • Each pupil will need a computer or laptop with an internet browser installed (Chrome, IE).
  • A good, stable, Internet connection.
  • A mouse for each pupils P.C. (not essential but makes the experience better)
  • The teacher’s laptop will need access to Microsoft Teams and will need the ability for their screen to be projected onto a screen/TV for the class to see.
