About this event
Course: Online Mental Health First Aid
The MHFA Online program delivers to individuals the tools they need to recognise the symptoms of mental ill health, provide initial help, guide a person towards appropriate professional help, and be mindful of their own wellbeing. This course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, giving you:
• An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
• Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
• Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
• Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
• Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support - whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix
Everyone who completes the course gets:
• A certificate of attendance to say you are a Mental Health First Aider
• A manual to refer to whenever you need it
• A quick reference card for the Mental Health First Aid action plan
• A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health
Learning:
Learning takes place online, MHFA England Online Learning Hub, you will need internet access, and video/audio connection. Training is through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. We limit numbers to 12 people per course so that the instructor can keep people safe and supported while they learn.
Pre-course learning:
You will need to complete 1-2 hrs independent learning before each live session. All independent learning and sessions must be completed to receive the course certificate.
Live instructor learning:
The live sessions for this cohort will be as follows - The estimated length of the actual teaching session is listed below - with time before and after to allow for technical issues or questions if required.

Wednesday 6th July 2022 : Live Session 2: 1:00 pm - 3.30 pm
Monday 11th July 2022 :Live Session 3: 1:00 pm - 3.30 pm
Wednesday 13th July 2022 : Live Session 4: 1:00 pm - 3.30 pm
YOU MUST ATTEND ALL FOUR LIVE SESSIONS TO QUALIFY AS A MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AIDER.
Once you register:
Once you have a confirmed place MHFA will deliver manuals and workbooks to your chosen address (This is why we need you to supply both your Email address and your chosen postal address). You will receive a comprehensive welcome email giving you all of the details you will need to successfully complete the course from start to completion.
Entry Requirements:
All participants must be aged over 18 years.
Cost: £230.00 per person for an open public course (including Eventbrite fees).
