Event description
A free webinar with the EdTech Demonstrators Programme

About this event

Digital Learning Cornwall is the EdTech training department of the Aspire Academy Trust; we are delighted to be working as a demonstrator setting as part of this DfE-backed national support project funded until at least March 2022.

We cut through the hype and jargon to identify and demonstrate technologies that have real impact in primary education.

The Covid pandemic has shone a light on the potential for EdTech to improve teaching & learning for both teachers and children.

So what can we take away from it all? What are the major pitfalls, red herrings, and points of caution as we pivot back to more normal circumstances? Which products and approaches are genuinely going to integrate into high-quality practice in your school or MAT?

This overview session draws on many years of experience and hard-won progress implementing EdTech systems – both hardware and software – across schools and MATs.

Both the pedagogical angle and technical side will be discussed, including how to make medium to long-term strategic choices; recommendations for introducing new systems; how to draw on the experiences of staff as you implement EdTech over the coming years.

There will also be scope for discussion / extended Q+A to suit attendees.

Giles Hill, delivering the session, is an experienced teacher with a background in evaluative tech journalism and multimedia design. He believes that any worthwhile route forward with EdTech needs to be grounded in actual classroom practice and an acute awareness of the demands of teaching classes full of busy children.

A follow-up session detailing infrastructure requirements and further technical discussion will run on the following day.

All sessions are free to attend via the DfE's EdTech Demonstrator Programme. When signing up for training events, attendees from educational settings in England are required to register interest in the EdTech Demonstrator Programme. This can then, if required, lead to a maximum of 30 hours bespoke support for your school, college, or early years provider and all staff.

We will offer a quick, introductory meeting should you wish to take the FREE DfE-funded opportunities further and tailor it to your own school and staff circumstances – we can offer bespoke, in-depth support and CPD tailored to your staff needs. Whilst we specialise in primary pedagogy, our MAT-wide infrastructure knowledge and experience is in many ways applicable to secondary education. Do drop us a line.
