What is it?

Our Online Office Hours are a series of one-to-one sessions with various experts from the legal and accounting sectors to support tech startup founders on their journey. In this one, participants will be able to engage directly with and receive personalised advice from Jemma Brown, UK and European Patent Attorney at Hindles.

Who is Jemma Brown?

Jemma is a UK and European patent attorney with a background in Physics and Bioengineering. Before joining the profession, Jemma graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master of Physics and Kings College London with a PhD in Biomedical Engineering.

Her PhD research involved developing image acquisition techniques and simulation platforms for diagnostic ultrasound and she has a particular interest in MedTech and bioengineering inventions.

As well as MedTech, Jemma works with inventions in fields including renewable power, semiconductor technology, hydraulic machines, telecommunications and consumer goods. She has experience in international portfolio management, including prosecution of patent applications in the US, China, Japan and South Korea. Her practice also includes preparing, filing and prosecution of registered designs.

She enjoys working closely with inventors to understand the technology and draw out different aspects of the innovation for protection.
