About this event

Hobbies • Drawing & Painting

The first rule of portrait club: Everybody sits for portrait club.

The idea is simple - when you join the portrait club Zoom session you will be welcomed by the host, then put into a group of 4-5 people. Everybody in that group takes it in turns to pose in front of the camera for 8-10 minutes while everybody else draws. By the end of the hour you will have all been drawn 3-4 times and will have made 3-4 drawings of other people. It’s a light-hearted, untutored session for all levels of experience, proving a chance to practice drawing a wide range of faces and to meet some lovely new people at the same time!

Our session leader is Emma Prothero . Emma is an artist and long-time Draw attendee who runs our weekly online Portrait Club.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any past experience to come to a portrait drawing class?

No! We welcome everybody from complete beginners to experienced artists. Our online sessions are untutored and a perfect place for you to draw and create in your own space.

How do I join on Zoom?

To join the online class, just grab your drawings materials and log into the Zoom app - test it to make sure that it works with plenty of time before the class starts. You can get access by clicking the link in the confirmation email - please keep your video on during drawing.

Can I take screenshots during the session

No, it is Draw policy that no screenshots or photographs are taken during the session. However there are thousands of amazing reference photos on the Draw Patreon.

Who is the concession price for?

Our full price is intended for working or retired attendees who can afford the full rate – we are a not-for-profit group, and the money goes back into funding our sessions. Students and anybody in financial need of the lower price is welcome to sign up at our lower rate.

What is the Draw Patreon?

Our sessions are primarily funded by our supporters on Patreon. If you’d like to support our community, models & tutors and get access to free sessions, reference images and video tutorials you can sign up for monthly membership on the Draw Patreon.
