Online Psychology of Character for Writers, April 2021 and 1:1 follow ups
Event Information
About this Event
A mixture of pre-recorded video teaching, set tasks and same-day tutor feedback, will help you to develop intriguing and authentic characters in your fiction using psychological theory. The workshop is suitable for all levels of writer as the focus is a deeper understanding of character. You will get the most out of the course if you have a specific character to develop. Tasks focus on planning rather than creating new prose.
A warm, welcoming and interactive space will provide you with all the materials to complete this course virtually in any length of time from one whole day up to two weeks in chunks. I will be available each day to respond with feedback or to answer questions.
Topics include:
Attachment theory and coping timelines
Human beliefs, assumptions, interpretations using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy framework
What lies beneath - Psychodynamic theory
Defense mechanisms
Change and growth
Each topic will be accompanied by a video, a written summary of the video content and typed tasks to complete to aid your planning and development of character. You can download the resources to use again once the course is complete.
