The Department for Communities is holding a 12 week public consultation on a registration threshold below which charities in Northern Ireland would not be required to register with or report to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland. This will open on 20 May 2024 at 9.00am and will close on 11 August 2024 at 23:59

This Consultation will contribute to the future of registration with the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland for charities of low-income. It is important that views of the public and the charity sector are represented to help determine what the regulatory framework will look like with a registration threshold. Whether you are a charity trustee, a member of a charity, a charity volunteer or a member of the public that supports or benefits from charities, we want to hear your views on this important issue. We are also interested in hearing the views of legal advisors, funders, independent examiners and other regulators or bodies that interact with the Charity Commission.

The Department is therefore hosting information sessions throughout Northern Ireland on the consultation to assist attendees in responding to the questionnaire. These events are free to attend, and we would encourage you to come along. Places are limited and must be booked in advance via the Eventbrite link below, so early booking is recommended.
