Online Safety Workshop

Facilitated by Keith Makin, Independent Chair of the LSCB

In 2017 the LSCB commissioned a review of online safety in Southampton. This was carried out by Professor Andy Phippen who specialises in the use of technology by children and young people, in particular online safety social media, privacy, texting, peer abuse and the impact of technology on children’s wellbeing. Professor Phippen is a research partner to the Safer Internet Centre and has worked with BT, Google and Facebook on issues relating to children’s online safety. The review invited input from pupils and staff at Southampton Schools and makes a number of recommendations to improve the safety and wellbeing of children in the city.

Come along to discuss the Review, share the learning points and take part in discussion and ideas about how to address learning and recommendations.

All Head Teachers, Chairs of Governors, Designated Safe Guarding Leads and IT teachers who work with children on online safety are invited to attend. Places are limited to two per school and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. If there is someone in your school who you feel should attend, please feel free to forward this invitation to them.

We look forward to seeing you.
