Overview
Online Disabled Persons Peer Support Group
About this event
The event will be held online via Zoom on Thursday 29th of January and will run from 11am-1:00pm.
Our peer support groups provide a space to share experiences and knowledge around Self-Directed Support (SDS). Through meaningful connections with others who understand your experiences, you will find a space to share, learn, and feel listened to.
The sessions are welcoming, relaxed and informal. Bringing people together to discuss the aspects of SDS that matter to them. We encourage mutual understanding and acceptance through the sharing of lived experiences.
We aim to increase understanding around Self-Directed Support, enabling you to make informed decisions about social care.
What is peer support?
Focussed on collective knowledge and collaboration, peer support groups provide a space for people to share their experiences, feelings, and knowledge with others who can understand.
Peers are those with similar lived experiences who can understand and offer support.
Peer support groups create an environment that uses collective knowledge, lived experience, and a mutual approach to build awareness and knowledge. The relationships and community built through peer support groups can also offer emotional and practical support.
