Agenda

Foundations of Communication in Therapy

We discuss the building blocks of communication, emphasising the importance of attention, listening, and play, particularly for children, as foundational elements for developing language and communication skills. We also look at the role of communicative intent and the need for motives to drive communication — with play a valuable tool in therapy for building these skills.

Speech Therapy Communication Components

A discussion focused on the components of communication and the diverse client groups speech and language therapists work with. The group may explore various client populations, such as individuals with brain injuries, autism, hearing impairments, learning disabilities, and dementia, highlighting the broad scope of speech and language therapy.

A case study

The workshop discusses a case study, with recipients thinking about the challenges individuals may face. Breakout sessions enable participants to discuss the case study.
