About this event

DO YOU WANT TO TALK?

Talk for Health Cafés are open to those who have already attended one of our Tasters or Specials. They provide a safe confidential space where you can come as you feel - you are perfect just the way you are. Haven’t been to a Taster? Click here to see our full list of Tasters and to sign up.

This Men's Group is open to men ONLY and who have already attended a Taster or Special. The aim of this group is to provide a confidential non-judgemental space, to explore common challenges with men who can relate and provide mutual support for each other through empathy and shared experiences. Join us every 2nd Monday of the month from 5.30-7.30pm.

Cafés are our monthly peer support groups. They don’t actually take place in cafés (although there will always be tea and biscuits if they're in person!) Instead, our Cafés are located in closed venues or online to provide a safe space for sharing. Our Cafés are structured time: everyone will have equal amount of time to share and respond, using the Talk for Health feedback techniques that you started to learn in the Taster session. Sign up is easy, and the groups run on the same day of the week each month (e.g. the 3rd Friday, or 2nd Monday).

You will learn to take care of your emotional health and lift your own and others’ wellbeing through truthful talking and empathic listening. At a Talk for Health Café led by a trained Talk for Health facilitator, you will learn the skills to be able to:

- Talk honestly

- Be listened to without judgement

- Share stories

- Form new connections

Once you’ve attended at least 6 Cafés for 6 months, or completed the full Talk for Health Programme, you’ll be a Talk for Health graduate! This means that you’ll be eligible to attend further leadership trainings and our ‘Chair and Share’ peer support groups.

If you have any questions, or are unable to sign-up using Eventbrite, please call or text 'call me' on 020 3409 3201 or email info@talkforhealth.co.uk.

As we are funded by Camden Giving and Islington NHS we have to give priority to Camden and Islington residents, students, or those with a GP in either of those boroughs. If you live outside of those boroughs we invite you to attend the Taster and we are able to invite you to join the programme if there are unfilled spaces.

Please note that if at any point either before or during the programme facilitators feel that by taking part there is a risk of detriment to your wellbeing then you will not be allowed to continue with the programme. Facilitators will support with suggestions for alternative referrals.

We apologise for the inconvenience, but for legal reasons under eighteens, babies, and animals will not be permitted to attend.

Organised by

Talk for Health is a social enterprise that demystifies effective therapeutic talk, making it accessible to all. Our mission is to make group peer to peer counselling something we can all do - whether for our own wellbeing, to help others, or both.

Our core offering is the award-winning, Psychotherapist-designed Talk for Health Group Peer Counselling Programme. We also run groups, trainings and special events both online and in person. PLEASE NOTE: our activities are paused from end June 2024 due to an end in our grant and NHS funding. However, we plan to offer our award-winning programme again in the near future.

How does it work?

Our core offering is the award-winning 4-day Group Peer Counselling programme. It teaches group peer-to-peer counselling skills and give you plenty of space to reflect on your own life.  After training, Talk for Health Graduates gain access to other events.

Further training can be provided for Graduates to become trainers of the core programme and/or facilitators of on-going groups.

Our activities were commissioned by NHS bodies in North London between 2014 and 2024, allowing free access for Camden and Islington residents. Over 10 years we demonstrated, with data from more than 2,000 participants, that T4H is as effective as Psychotherapy and more long-lasting. NHS-funded places are not currently available and we plan to offer our programme again in the near future, on a paid basis.

We also plan to run special events and hope to see you at one of our programmes or events soon.
