About this event

Science & Tech • Medicine

To celebrate Dark Matter Day, we are excited to be holding another family event with the STFC Boulby Underground Laboratory during the October half term, with a fantastic short link up to the team at Boulby, who will talk to us live from 1.1 km underground!

You can join us for the live link where the team from Boulby will talk about the hunt for the mysterious dark matter - the missing mass of the Universe - and how they use the special and unique environment of the mine to enable a whole range of other exciting science - from researching renewable energy storage to exploring other planets!

This event will start at 13:30 and will run until approximately 14:00 (may go over slightly with questions). Those online can ask questions which will be read out at the end of the talk for the speakers to answer.

One ticket is required for each device that will be used to watch the event.

This will be broadcast live from the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory as part of an in-person event: for more details of that, and to register for places, please visit: https://darkmatterday2025.eventbrite.co.uk
