This event will be the first of it’s kind in the UK.
It is hosted in partnership by Holly Pulham (Occupational Therapist) of North Bristol Trust and Dr. Alyson Warland of Brunel University.
We have two goals for the conference:
1.To raise the quality and profile of wheelchair skills in the UK through networking, collaboration and learning of providers/trainers
- Learn what others are doing in the UK
- Discuss best practise and guidelines
- Share ideas for innovative service provision e.g. use of remote training, peer trainers
- Listen to key researchers in the field such as Dr R L Kirby (of the Wheelchair Skills Programme) and Krista Best, University of Laval.
2. To inform a wider research project on wheelchair skills training. The goal of this research is to develop and improve wheelchair skills provison in NHS and third sector providers.
Just so you know, for this reason, we will be recording the conference to analyse for research. Please email holly.pulham@nbt.nhs.uk if you have any questions about this
