About this Event

14:00 Workshop Session 1 (Kathryn McCullagh - BPS Communications Team)

14:30 Workshop Session 2 (Maddi Pownall - PsyPAG chair)

In my session, I will offer a first-hand perspective on navigating media interest in my feminist research, and will share lessons learned from this experience. This will include a discussion of the benefits of engaging with the media, as well as noting some of the distinct challenges/critical considerations for engaging with the media, particular with research or scholarship that comes from an explicitly feminist perspective.

15:00 Workshop Session 3 (Meg-John Barker)

This workshop opens up space for attendees to explore why they might engage with mainstream and social media as a postgraduate researcher, and any fears and concerns they have around doing so. The workshop foregrounds the need for self-care and collective care around media engagement, and aims to help attendees to find their own set of guiding principles for their media dis/engagement, which they may find useful to revisit over time.
