Event description
Findacure's first online workshop will provide support and guidance to patient groups looking to enhance their skills in fundraising.

About this Event

Findacure is delighted to announce its first online workshop, which will provide support and guidance to rare disease patient groups looking to enhance their skills in fundraising.

Taking place in interactive 90-minute sessions across three days, the workshop will delve into three key topics; finding fundraising opportunities, top tips for a good fundraising application, and seeking support from corporate organisations.

The workshop is particularly suited to help patient groups who have previously been reliant on community fundraising (such as sponsored runs and activities) and now find themselves without this important revenue stream due to the impact of Covid-19.

Attendees will gain the most benefit by attending all three days of the workshop, however you can also sign up for each session independently. As spaces are limited, we politely request that only one member from each organisation registers to attend.

Identifying fundraising opportunities - 11:00am - 12:30pm, Monday 4th May

Day one of our workshop will focus on how patient groups identify suitable routes of funding for their organisation, with a particular focus on fundraising through foundations and trusts. The session will be delivered by Findacure’s Fundraising Manager, Laura Thompson-Harper, and CEO, Rick Thompson.

Writing a successful fundraising application - 11:00am - 12:30pm, Tuesday 5th May

Following on from day one, day two of our workshop will provide a step-by-step walkthrough on writing successful funding applications that stand out from the crowd. We will be joined in this session by Mairead Bailie who is the Funding Officer at The National Lottery Community Fund and a DSC Trainer.

Navigating corporate grants and sponsorship - 11:00am - 12:30pm, Wednesday 6th May

The final day of our workshop will look at how patient organisation approach and secure funding support from corporate organisations, both within and outside of the rare disease world. The session will be delivered by Laura Thompson-Harper, Rick Thompson, and include direct insights from industry.
