ONS Local Workshop: Create Auto Updating ONS Data Feeds in Power BI
Overview
ONS Local & City Observatory Workshop: Create Auto Updating ONS Data Feeds for Power BI
ONS Local has been established by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to promote evidence-based decision-making at the local level. We aim to host insightful workshops which will provide practical, technical support to help users make the most of ONS and cross government data. Birmingham City Council have developed and run the Birmingham City Observatory, a public, open data platform on a wide range of characteristics of the city. Danny O’Neill, its creator, is an expert on building Power BI dashboards.
Get ready to level up your data life with a little bit of digital wizardry. In this session we explore how to use the ONS and Nomis API to build a magic link that pulls fresh data straight into Power BI or Excel every time you open it, no spells required. It is ideal for analysts, dashboard builders and anyone who is tired of downloading the same dataset on repeat. The session is delivered by Danny O'Neill from the Birmingham City Observatory, who will guide you through the steps, show you the gotchas and leave you wondering why you ever did it the manual way.
