ONS Local has been established by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to promote evidence-based decision-making at the local level. We aim to host insightful workshops which will provide practical, technical support to help users make the most of ONS and cross government data. In this webinar, East Suffolk Council will share their journey of using Power BI to develop KPI dashboards for performance monitoring.
East Suffolk Council have been making their Strategic KPI dashboards available to the public since 2022. Over time, these dashboards have evolved from simple indicators into comprehensive tools which include various measures, interactive maps, the council’s Strategic Action Plan projects, and quarterly and annual commentary. The Council’s Business Solutions and Policy, Performance and Risk teams will discuss their experience in creating dashboards which effectively present the key projects that meet the aims and aspirations of the Council.
The Data Analytics team consistently aim to balance data robustness with user experience. This comes with its own challenges – how to best present the public with a concise performance summary? How to make the dashboards visually engaging whilst keeping them rich in detail? Why is being able to link the dashboards straight to the business systems important?
This workshop will be suited for both seasoned dashboard creators and those just beginning their journey with Power BI but will be especially valuable for those looking to use it in performance reporting.
