About this Event
According to the latest UN migration report entitled ‘International Migration’ released in January 2021, the number of international migrants worldwide has reached 281 million. Therefore, migration is a global issue worth exploring.
We are grateful to the following experts on migration who have accepted our invitation to participate in the IBMS seminar series.

Speakers
Dr Francesco Della Puppa in Social Sciences at the University of Padua (Italy).
He is a research fellow at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice (Italy) and a member of the Master Program “Migration Phenomena and Social Transformation”.
His research interests are international migration and asylum. Specifically, he works on the phenomenon of onward migration and intra-European mobility with particular focus on the case study of Italian-Bangladeshi in London and the UK; migrant family and family reunification; gender and migration, refugees, and asylum seekers outside the Italian reception system; migration and urban contexts; migrant labour and trade union; racism and ethnic discrimination and citizenship. Recently, he has been working on some graphic novels on migrating and sociological themes. Francesco will present - Migrants in Italy, Citizens in the UK? The Onward Migrations in Europe. The case of the Italian-Bangladeshi families at the Seminar.

Dr Djordje Sredanovic is a FNRS research fellow at the GERME laboratory and the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
He obtained his PhD from the University of Padua and worked at the Universities of Bologna and Manchester. He is a sociologist specialising in citizenship and migration. Sredanovic has worked on the meanings and uses of citizenship among migrants and local factory workers in Italy, the implementation of citizenship policies in Belgium and the UK, the comparative study of citizenship policies, the representation of migrants in the media, and asylum policies in Italy.
He is currently working on the impact of Brexit on the meaning and value of EU and national citizenships among UK citizens, EU27 citizens and third-country nationals in the UK and Belgium. Djordje will present: Brexit and return and onward migration plans among EU27 citizens in the UK and British in Europe.

Dr Nunzia Di Cristo Bertali
She is a Research Fellow at Liverpool Business School and a Consular Correspondent for Consulate General of Italy in Northern England. Nunzia will present a co-authored study on The Motivations for Onward Migration of Italian/Pakistani - Bangladeshi in the North of England.
