What time should I arrive?

Doors will open at 1:30pm and the film will start at 3:00pm.

What should I bring into the event?

As this is an exciting outdoor experience, we encourage you to bring blankets, chairs and picnics! We will also have food & drink available on site to purchase. Please note that no glass of any kind is allowed onto sites, including bottles of wine and beer. All drinks must be in plastic or cans and please use plastic to drink from as opposed to glass that can easily break. You may also wish to bring a torch and some blankets as it can get cold later in the evening!

Please also bring cash with you, some of the stalls may have card payment facilities but there is not a cash machine on site, the nearest cash machine is situated at Tesco Express on Wakefield Road. Fundraising activities will be taking place at the event so please bring cash so you can take part!

What happens in bad weather?

The event will always go ahead in the event of bad weather. Please check the weather forecast in advance and be prepared for the Great British Summer. Screenings will only be cancelled if the weather conditions present a danger at screening time. Patrons accept the risk that weather they consider unsatisfactory may occur on a screening night, and acknowledge that tickets will not be exchanged or refunded unless a screening is cancelled by Kirkwood Hospice. Refund availability will be dependent on the cancellation circumstances. Cancellation information will be distributed via social media and email communication channels as a priority. Cancellations will always be a last resort and only authorised by joint decision of Kirkwood Hospice and the screen technicians.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The film is rated PG- Parental Guidance

General viewing, but some scenes may be unsuitable for young children. A PG film should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older. Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is limited free parking available on site, however please note that the museum and certain areas of the park will be open to the public and therefore the use of the car park is not exclusive to event attendees. There is on street parking around the venue, however we advise that you car share where possible.

The park is also on key bus routes with plenty of buses passing regularly. Some of the buses that pass include:

No refunds or exchanges are available.

Can I smoke at the screening?

Smoking is not permitted inside the audience seating area. If you wish to smoke at an event, you will be asked to leave the site and will be readmitted once you are finished.

Can I bring a disposable barbecue?

Barbecues, fireworks and bonfires are strictly not allowed on site.

Can I bring tables and chairs?

Yes, by all means feel free to bring a picnic chair or blanket to sit on, please note that no seats are provided. Seating is in the open air on variable ground conditions so please ensure you bring appropriate provision for your needs. Tents, awnings or canopies or any item which could obscure other patrons’ views are not permitted. Please note that our ushers request those members of the audience on chairs not to sit at the front, but rather position themselves at the side or towards the back of the audience seating area so as not to obstruct the view of others.

What should I wear?

The screening is held outdoors so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Please bear in mind that it can get chilly later in the evenings so make sure you bring something warm to wrap up in.

Can I bring children to the screening?

Children are welcome to attend our events, and we offer a discounted price for children under 16. Children under 3 can also attend for free. Please be aware that they must adhere to the film’s certification and our team will have to check ID to make sure that audience members are the suitable age to see the film.

Can I bring a dog to the screening?

With the exception of assistance dogs, we will not be permitting dogs into the event.

Will there be toilet facilities at the screening?

Yes, there will be toilet facilities, including accessible facilities at both screenings.

Will there be subtitiles?

Not as standard, but if you have a large group coming that requires subtitles, please let us know and we will see what we can do.

For your own safety and enjoyment, we ask you to please adhere to the below:

  • Bring something to sit on (blanket or picnic chair)

  • In the event of bad weather the event will go ahead - please check the forecast and come prepared

  • Please note that it can turn chilly in the evenings, so please make sure you bring suitable clothing.

  • It is recommended that you bring a torch to provide localised lighting.

  • No naked flames, BBQ’s, gas stoves or candles.

  • No tents, gazebos, parasols or pop-up structures.

  • No dogs or pets (except guide dogs).

  • Glass is not permitted onsite – please ensure all drinks are in plastic/cans and consumed from plastic drinkware.

  • Please follow steward instructions.

  • There will be first aid trained staff members. If you become unwell please contact your nearest Steward.

  • If you wish to smoke, including e cigarettes, you need to leave the arena, you will be readmitted afterwards, and please be courteous of other audience members.

  • Please place all rubbish into the bins provided or take it away with you.

  • Any drinks purchased onsite must be consumed within the event site.

  • No umbrellas are permitted during the screening (except at management discretion).

  • Please take note of the film certification when purchasing tickets. The film certification is strictly enforced at Ticket Check. ID will be required for those patrons who look under the age of the film certification.

  • The on-site bar operates a Challenge 25 Policy. If you look under 25 please do not be offended if we ask you for proof of age when you purchase alcohol. Please bring proof of ID to show you are over 18. Please don’t be offended if you are asked for ID.

  • Credit/Debit Card Machines are operated by individual stall holders. Please note these are subject to suitable mobile coverage on the site and payment by card cannot be guaranteed. There are no cash machines on site so please bring cash with you.

  • Please note Kirkwood Hospice cannot be held liable or responsible for any damage to vehicles or personnel possessions whilst attending any of our events.

  • Please note failure to comply with any site rules could result in refused entry or immediate removal from the event.
