Underground film of the 1980s was an unseen and undiscovered area of Czech film history for many decades. The underground art community produced more than 80 short films shot on Super-8, with numerous directors, production companies and festivals, creating an almost entire small-scale industry parallel to the 80s state film industry. This talk by Martin Blažíček will introduce various documentary strategies and community practices of filmmaking within this area, utilizing examples from some recently restored films.

Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space in London to nurture and champion the art of creative documentary and non-fiction filmmakers.
The festival takes place over six days in venues across London and the programme offers a chance to see the best in contemporary, international documentary as well as filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, workshops, live music, networking and parties. The 2016 festival will take place between 21-26 June 2016.
