Open City Festival: Open Weaving Studio and Exhibition/Makers Market

We are delving deeper into local connections through Deptford's Maritime history. Last year we explored natural maritime fibres, this year we are focussing on personal narratives in the shape of The Story of Mary Lacey.

Mary lived on Deptford Highstreet and became known as the first female shipright, having had to dress as a man in Deptford's busy Dockyard. Her auto biography forms the basis of new tapestry work at the studio.

Alongside the exhibition, the studio is open to the public as part of our monthly Open Studio and Makers Market program.
