Open Data Play Day
Fri 1 July 2016, 09:30 – 14:30 BST
At a time when the digital sector is growing rapidly and becoming a key part of a range of careers and futures it’s essential to give children opportunities, as early as possible, to play with and explore digital technologies. Such experiences will also provide young people with the skills and ideas to make a meaningful contribution to their school’s digital developments which could benefit the whole school and its wider community. RIO has been working with Plymouth City Council to design and deliver a series of events that provide a space for children and young people to do just that.
Designed in partnership with Plymouth City Council, these immersive events provide an opportunity for children to make connections and open up the possibilities for digital leadership in their schools. They are energetic, fun and inventive and tap into communication, teamwork, leadership skills, problem solving and innovation.
We are inviting digital leaders and schools with young pupils to come along to the latest Open Data Play Day, to embrace the world of digital technology and experiment with all types of digital devices! Through these Open Data Play Days, children will gain useful skills and experiences which can help them shape any digital developments within their school. Teachers can also see how Digital Futures can benefit and enhance the Digital Leaders programme, and have the rare opportunity to share ideas that can be replicated at school.
This event is for primary school children at KS2, and is ideal for children in Years 5 and 6.
