About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours 30 minutes

You are invited to join us for The Glasgow School of Art Autumn Open Days taking place Friday 24th + Saturday 25th October.

Over these two days we will open our studios and workshops throughout the campus to give you a one of a kind behind the scenes look at what it’s like to be a student at GSA. This is a special opportunity to experiencing our world class technical facilities and studio culture.

On the day you join us we will take you on a tour of our campus, as well as give you the opportunity to meet and chat with programme staff and current students. The Open Days are the best way to experience a taste of what it is like to study here.

Why not make a weekend of it in one of Europe's top city destinations.

Our official programme of events will be published nearer the time but some not to be missed highlights include:

Programme Specific Talks and Tours

Not sure which department is right for you? Running throughout both days you can attend talks, tour workshops, and meet current staff and students on the programmes we offer at. Alongside this, we also have a range of other activities designed to help you get a feel of what it's like to study in a creative environment like The Glasgow School of Art. Year after year we find the best introduction to our art school culture is to meet and talk to the staff and students who make our creative community what it is.

GSA Halls of Residence Tours

At The Glasgow School of Art, we have two Halls of Residence which incoming students can apply to – Margaret Macdonald House and Blythswood House. You will be able to tour our accommodation in the heart of Glasgow, and will also be introduced to some of the local creative community spaces in the area including the Centre of Contemporary Arts (CCA); the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT); Grateful Gallery, Garnethill Park and Friends of Garnethill Green Spaces nearby our Halls of Residence.

The Marketplace

The Marketplace is the central hub for you to learn everything you need to know about GSA. Here you'll find a range of stalls from our support departments who support our applicants and students. You will also get the chance to meet our student ambassador team as well as some of our student led Societies at the GSA you can chat to them about studying at the GSA and life in Glasgow.

If you have questions about making an application to art school, staff from our admissions teams will be on hand to talk you through the process and answer any questions you have. The Open Studio team who run our Portfolio Preparation courses will also be on hand to chat to you about submitting a strong portfolio for your application to art school.

You’ll also find our Student Support Services who support student learning in a range of ways including learning support, supporting students with disability, counselling services and student welfare. They are a great team to chat to if you have questions about reasonable adjustments to study or want to know about the practical support and advice available to students on things like accommodation or the day-to-day practicalities of being a student.

Other departments in the Marketplace will include GSA Sustainability, Archives and Collections, International Exchange and our Careers and Enterprise department.
