We have developed a unique partnership with the Open University to offer a direct entry Blended Learning undergraduate nursing degree. (Please note this is not an Aprenticeship)

The three-year full-time degree programme is Blended as combines Online and Face to Face elements. The programme provides an opportunity to study your degree flexibly online with the Open University, with additional face to face teaching in our simulation facilities.

We will have a direct entry to Year 1, to study either Children's and Young Adults' Nursing or Adult Nursing in February 2026 - applications opening in July 2025.

Are you a Nursing Associate or an Assistant Practitioner? You could now 'top up' to become an Adult Registered Nurse, entering Year 2 in February 2026.

Frequently asked questions

I do not currently work in Healthcare. Can I still apply for this course?

You do not need to be working g on Healthcare to apply

Will I be required to attend classes in campus?

Yes. There will be some teaching on the OUH campus. This will mainly be skills teaching and simulated practice activities.

Can placements be arranged at another hospital Trust or healtcare institution?

Unfortunately not. We are only able to offer and support placements within OUH . Students must ensure they can travel to and from placement areas at correct times

Can I carry on working whilst studying?

This is full-time study, placements and tutorials must take precedence. It will be only possible therefore to combine with a flexible part time work role.

What admission /entry requirements/qualifications are needed?

Entry requirements: Applicants must evidence at point of application Maths and English qualifications: Literacy and numeracy - functional skills level 2 or equivalent (e.g., GCSE Grade C /4 or above, or equivalent)
