About Orientation to Art and Design
The Orientation to Art and Design nine-week diagnostic course designed to introduce students to studying the different disciplines within art and design and prepare them for application to a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design or other similar courses.
Develop your creative skills with a broad range of projects that support you to explore different areas of art and design including drawing, life drawing and observational skills, research and investigative skills, creative thinking, problem solving abilities and use of sketchbooks.
You will have the opportunity to use of a range of materials and processes including 3D construction projects, painting, design for the body and photomedia.
You will receive guidance on how to build your portfolio and prepare for your interview. The projects that you undertake on the orientation course will help you to experiment with materials and ideas in order to develop and evidence the conceptual skills necessary to gain a place on a foundation course or similar.
Between 2011-2015 89% of Orientation to Art and Design students who applied to UAL, successfully gained a place.
