OPEN DAY: Ripon Sailing Club (Knaresborough HG5 9JS)
Sat 13 May 2017, 10:30 – 16:00 BST
Ripon Sailing Club, based at Farnham Lake on the outskirts of Knaresborough is a long established sailing club with a friendly reputation for family focused sailing.
If you are interested in learning to sail, or are looking for a sport you can enjoy as a family then come along to the club’s open day on Saturday 13 May 2017, 10:30am – 4pm to have a look round, meet some members, have a taster sail and enjoy coffee and cake in our purpose built clubhouse.
The open day is being organised by the club in partnership with the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) annual “Push The Boat Out” campaign to encourage people to try sailing and enjoy the benefits of this amazing sport.
Sailing is a fabulous multi-generational sporting activity that the whole family can enjoy together. From competitive racing to just pottering about on a sunny afternoon, nothing is quite so exhilarating as your first solo sail or an exciting race against friends. Sailing really does blow the cobwebs away and is a healthy way of spending time together as a family.
Whilst the club has a busy racing programme for competent sailors, it is also a recognised training centre and provides learn to sail courses for members as well as being an RYA champion club with specific youth & junior sailing activities. The club celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2017 and several parties and events are planned on top of the usual busy social diary supported by a professional caterer providing hot meals, drinks and snacks most weekends and some mid-week days. Membership is available for families, single members and youth & juniors.
The club entrance can be found immediately next to the Treves factory on Farnham Lane (off the A6055 Boroughbridge Road) in Knaresborough. Signs will be out on the day or you can check out the club’s website www.ripon-sc.org.uk or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
