The Open Day for the Textiles Portfolio is a great opportunity for you to find out more about this exciting course at Central Saint Martins.
About the Textiles Portfolio
Our one-year Textiles Portfolio course aims to help you generate a good portfolio of work to gain a place on an undergraduate or postgraduate textiles course at CSM or elsewhere. Taught by tutors from the BA courses at CSM, you will advance your comprehension of textiles and challenge your ideas of how to design textiles with experimentation and research.
During the course you will discover and develop your own individual approach to Textile Design supported by classes in research, contextual studies, drawing and mark making, media techniques, colour, layout and presentation, hand knit, crochet, embroidery, off loom weave, machine knit, printmaking, collage and visualization, digital design, photography, personal projects and research, and portfolio surgery
Through an emphasis on texture and material the Textiles Portfolio supports you to explore the fabric behind garments and objects, and their potential within a wide range of art and design disciplines.
Between 2011 and 2015, 85% of Portfolio Preparation students who applied to a course at UAL were offered a place.
