Event description

Description

Do you have first-hand experience of the many issues that make it hard for Londoners to make ends meet?

Would you like to use this experience to help others and tackle the root causes of poverty and inequality in London?

Trust for London is a charitable foundation that awards nearly £10million a year to organisations working to improve the living and working conditions of Londoners. This includes issues like low pay, insecure work, high rent and childcare costs, and insecure immigration status.

We are committed to tackling the root causes of poverty and inequality so that all Londoners can live a full and rewarding life.

We have a Board of Trustees who oversee all aspects of the Trust, and two Grants Committees that make decisions about what to fund.

We are recruiting up to 4 people with recent first-hand experience of the issues we tackle to join our grants committees and help us make decisions about where to place our funding.

Our grants committees are comprised ofour Trustees and co-opted members. These 4 appointments are for co-opted members, who are generally appointed because they bring specific skills or experience.

We are interested in people who have experience of life on a low-income in London, either gained through their own everyday experience or through campaigning and/ or providing direct services.

Details of the role of co-opted members:

  • A commitment to attend three meetings a year (two and a half hours during office hours at set times).
  • Time to read the applications and other papers ahead of the meeting.
  • Co-optees have full voting rights on the Grants Committee.
  • This is not a paid position but reasonable expenses for travel will be re-imbursed.
  • Opportunity to visit a range of civil society organisations in London.

Light refreshments will be provided

Our offices are fully accessible.

If you cannot attend but would like more information about the role, please email either Sioned Churchill (Director of Grant) – sioned@trustforlondon.org.uk or Manny Hothi (Director of Policy) – manny@trustforlondon.org.uk

More information about the Trust, our current funding programmes and how to apply to become a co-opted member, are available on our website - www.trustforlondon.org.uk
