Local horticultural expert, John Grundy, will be delivering a talk discussing a range of features that can be added to your garden to make it more wildlife friendly, as well as information on how to carry out regular garden maintenance in a more sustainable way.

Durham Wildlife Trust’s Head of Development & Communications, Emily Routledge, will be delivering a talk about the Trust, nature reserves and nature restoration projects. There will be teas, coffees, cakes and scones available throughout the day.

Through the management of 31 Nature Reserves and a variety of species and habitat recovery projects, the Trust is one of the most active environmental organisations in the region. By acting as a focus for a variety of community groups, schools and individuals, the Trust engages people in the issues around nature conservation and the wider environment. It also manages two visitor centres and campaigns on behalf of more than 8000 members. More information at www.durhamwt.co.uk
