WEDNESDAY 20th JULY 7-9PM
Welcome to Cardiff Umbrella's first open mic event at their gallery space in the Capitol Centre, organised and hosted by Joshua Jones.
Anyone is welcome to participate in the open mic, however ayone who has come to the writing workshops at Umbrella will be considered first. You can sign up for the open mic via Eventbrite, or on the door if there are still spaces.
Writing/performing beginners are very welcome! Anyone is free to read, perform or simply attend the open mic, regardless of ability, gender, race, sexuality, etc. This is a chill, friendly opportunity to share work, connect and chat with fellow creatives.

From 6-7pm there will be a short performance workshop and social for anyone who wants to perform on the open mic. This isn't mandatory, so no pressure.

Joshua Jones is a queer, autistic writer and poet from Llanelli, South Wales. He has an MA in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, and is currently studying to become an educator at Cardiff Met. He is also a multi-disciplinary artist, and part of the On Your Face collective.
He has been published by Poetry Wales, Permeable Barrier, The Common Breath, and more. He has recently been shortlisted for the Rhys Davies Short Story Prize, published by Parthian Books, and came 3rd place in the Reflection Fiction Winter Prize, 2021. His debut short story collection, Local Fires, will be published by Parthian Autumn 2023.
