Description

Open Minds – A Sikh LGBTQ Support Group

Date: Wednesday 26th June 2019
Time: 6pm – 8pm
Venue: L&Q, 29-35 West Ham Lane, Stratford, London E15 4PH

Being Sikh and LGBTQ is challenging. Sarbat and Taraki have teamed up to create a friendly, safe space for Sikh LGBTQ people to meet and support each other. The group will take place once a month and you can attend as many or as few sessions as you need.

At our May meeting we talked about family pressure and how it can prevent us from being truthful with the people that are important to us. We talked about the complicated situations people can get into when they want to please their family at the cost of denying their sexuality. A summary of this meeting will soon be posted to the Sarbat website.

At our next Open Mind session we will be talking about the challenges and benefits of 'Coming Out' and how you can make steps towards a life where you don't have to worry about being judged for who you are.

We look forward to meeting you and hearing your story.

If you can’t make this date then our next session will be on the 31th of July 2019.
