The scholarly publishing world has begun to embrace "altmetrics", which may help to illuminate research impact in new ways. Altmetrics for single articles ("article-level metrics") are gaining ground, and have become a hot topic in the fields of librarianship and information science. What is the potential value of altmetrics and article-level metrics in institutional libraries and repositories?
Altmetric invites you to participate in this one-hour librarian focus group session, during which you'll be asked to provide your opinions on article-level metrics in the context of libraries and repositories. Before and during this session, we'll explore article-level metrics using a web application called the Altmetric Explorer, which is an interface for browsing and analyzing article-level metrics data.
This event is limited to 15 people, but we can also arrange for smaller groups to meet and discuss during Open Repositories 2013.
