Open Seas - 'Why respond to a Marine Consultation?' Workshop
Overview
This free online workshop will take you through the Inshore MPA consultation (due to be realised in Dec 2025) and give you insight into the best approaches for responding to consultations, from how to understand them, why to respond in the first place and how to submit your feedback.
About the Consultation:
The Scottish Government is due to publish a consultation by the end of 2025 on management measures for inshore Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Priority Marine Features (PMFs). Priority Marine Features (PMFs) are features within the marine environment, including a variety of habitats and species, deemed to be of particular importance to biodiversity and cultural heritage. Despite the Scottish Government designating Marine Protected Areas back in 2015, many remain unprotected with no management measures such as fisheries restrictions in place. This consultation is a long-awaited moment to meaningfully protect Scotland's seas and we need your voice!
In this workshop you'll find out:
- Why your voice is important
- What makes an effective consultation response
- How to use scientific data to strengthen your response
This workshop has been organised by NESCAN and Open Seas.
The consultation is due to be published by December 2025 and all the information relating to the consultation can be found here: https://marine.gov.scot/?q=node/26971
