Event description

Description

The theme for Open Talmud Project 2018 is Power and Powerlessness. What does the Talmud have to say about people far from the centre of power; slaves, women, children and the disabled. Who and what has power over the powerful? What would the sages of the Talmud say to Bob Dylan who says:
Everybody's Gotta Serve Somebody.

Open Talmud Project is a cross-denominational, grass-roots initiative for close encounter with Talmud, and other Jewish texts, in a vibrant, supportive and intellectually open environment with excellent teachers, and a lovely, diverse group of people, including complete beginners and more experienced learners.

Cost for Open Talmud Day:

Open Talmud is a grass-roots initiative. All money goes towards excellent teachers, a suitable venue, and some nice touches, like food, to build community. The team are volunteers.
• Tickets are £25
• £15 for Concessions for students, those under 25 years old and pensioners
It is an important principle of Open Talmud Project that costs should never be a barrier to participation. To pay what you are able to pay please send an email, with the subject line “payment”, to opentalmud@gmail.com
