Being open helps us grow confidence to explore possibilities and feel comfortable with that in the process of learning. When we can grow our perspectives we can also grow the possibilities available to help determine what we want to meaningfully focus on and why.

  • Encourage you to embrace insecurity and failure to create a learners mindset
  • Look at situations from different perspectives
  • Zoom in and out and to know when to do both
  • Prototyping and experimenting with an attitude in preparing for and dealing with uncertainty

Special guest: José de la O from delaO design studio (Mexico). About finding a balance between plan-based approaches to work and openness to moments of intuition and new discovery.

José de la O

José de la O is an Industrial Designer specialized in design research. He is Director of delaO design studio, his design and research agency based in Mexico City. José is currently Regional Director of the Design Department at Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in México City. José has an Industrial Design Bachelor Degree from Universidad Iberoamericana and a Masters Degree on Contextual Design from Design Academy Eindhoven, graduating in 2010. The same year, he founded de la O design studio in Eindhoven, Netherlands which was later relocated to Mexico City. During his career he has incursed in product design, speculative design and strategic design, as well as design-driven research and consultancy projects, having his work exhibited and published by several national and international platforms. De la O is co-founder of Cooperativa Panorámica,. He runs the design-driven cultural initiative The Chair that Rocks, is the creative director of his design brand, and co-produces the spanish-language design podcast Fuera de Contexto.
