Overview

How do we stay true to Open and Trusting Grant-making if the legitimacy of foundations comes under attack from central government?

How do we stay true to Open and Trusting Grant-making if the legitimacy of foundations comes under attack from central government? If the communities and causes we support are vilified by people in power?

Join us for a between IVAR Director Ben Cairns and Shaady Salehi, Executive Director of the Trust-based Philanthropy Project in the US. Hear how her organisation and others in the US and across the world have been working to protect and uphold trust-based values and practices against a backdrop of militarised action, rights rollbacks, and weakened protections that are "directly affecting people’s lives and straining the nonprofits working to meet rapidly growing need".

When governmental actions and policy shifts create fear, instability, and real harm for communities, what practical actions can foundations take to prepare themselves to hold their ground?
