Grab your goggles and swimsuit and join us to make some amazing memories at St Helena’s first ever Open Water Swim.

About this Event

Challenge yourself by swimming either 1.5km or 3km at Curve Wake Park’s salt water lake on Saturday 14th September.

Anyone over the age of 14 is invited to take part, and we will be asking everyone to complete a swim test on the morning of the event before you start your 1.5 or 3km swim.

Everyone who signs up will receive a swimming cap and a well-deserved medal when you complete your swim.

There will also be the option to hire a wetsuit at the Park

The Open Water Swim will begin from 9am, please ensure you arrive early to check in - available from 8.30am

Q - Where is the Open Water Swim taking place?

A - Curve Wake Park, Mill Dam Lake, St Osyth.

Q - What distances can I choose from?

A - There are two options either 1.5km or 3km

Q - What is the route?

A - The 1.5k will be a circular route of the lake, the 3k will be double of the circular route

Q - How many swimmers can take part at the same time?

A - We will have waves throughout the morning, each wave will have 50 swimmers maximum

Q - Do I have to wear a swimming hat?

A - Yes, this is for health and safety. All swimmers will be provided with a bespoke swimming hat for the event

Q - Do I have to wear a wet suit?

A - Curve Wake Park have not made this an essential requirement, therefore this can be your decision. Wetsuits will be available to hire at Curve Wake Park for a small fee

Q - Is the lake fresh or salt water?

A - The lake is salt watered

Q - Can I stand up in the lake?

A – You can stand in the majority of the lake

Q - What is the minimum age?

A - The minimum age to take part is 14 years

Q - Do I need swimming experience?

A - Yes, all participants will be required to take part in a swim test prior to starting the event. If deemed unsuitable to take part swimmers will be withdrawn from the event.

Q – Do I have to do the swim test?

A – Yes, for your safety and the safety of others, everyone is asked to take a short swim test before the event begins

Q - Do I have to swim a certain stroke?

A - No, this is down to your preference

Q - Will there be lifeguards at the event?

A - Yes, there will be the minimum requirements of lifeguards for this open water swim

Q - How much is it to enter?

A - £25 per person (plus booking fees), any age, any distance

Q- Do I have to raise sponsorship money?

A - Each person is expected to raise £75 per person
