About this event

Business • Finance

Join Colmore BID for a morning of networking at Aston University as we open the doors to John Cadbury House and explore the Fraud Research Group — a new initiative dedicated to tackling fraud through research, collaboration, and practical solutions.

This event will feature an insightful talk by Dr Rasha Kassem, Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Leader of the Fraud Research Group at Aston University, on the UK’s new Failure to Prevent Fraud offence, which comes into force on 1 September 2025.

The legislation introduces criminal liability for large organisations if an associated person commits fraud for their benefit—even if senior management is unaware.

You’ll hear about:

  • What the new law means for your business
  • How to prepare and implement reasonable fraud prevention procedures
  • The latest research and evidence-based strategies from Aston University

We’ll also be joined by Paul Street, Colmore BID’s Projects Manager for Safe and Sound and former police officer, who will offer practical insights and support for businesses navigating fraud risk.

Why attend?

  • Explore Aston University’s John Cadbury House
  • Learn from leading experts in fraud prevention
  • Network with peers over breakfast
  • Discover how to build a stronger defence against fraud
