Opened Palm & The Simeon Odejimi Foundation 1st year Anniversary Fundraiser
Sat 10 December 2016, 17:00 – 20:30 GMT
Opened Palm and The Simeon Odejimi Foundation were established to empower vulnerable children and youths from under privileged backgrounds. While Opened Palm focuses on supporting a London based demographic, The Simeon Odejimi Foundation lends itself to support individuals and organisations based in West Africa.
Following their December 2015 launch, both organisations have worked hard to improve the prospects of young people – one disadvantaged child at a time. It has been 12 months of impact and we would like you to join us as we celebrate our achievements to date and gear up to do even greater things.
We will kick off the night with a panel discussion on ‘Harnessing our Youth Capital’ aimed at inspiring positive engagement and proactivity amongst youths. United Nations research highlights that there are over a billion young people (aged 15-24) in the world. However, young people, especially young women, are currently an underutilised resource of initiators and implementers of development. It is in light of this that we have convened a seasoned panel of inspirational professionals and entrepreneurs.
You will be motivated. You will be inspired. Most of all, you will be connected with a network of like-minded people to help you implement the change you want to see in your circle of influence.
Our moderator for the evening, Dara Kirton is a manager at PwC and chair of the PwC Multicultural Business Network. She is also a 2015 Winner of the industry wide Rising Star in Consulting Award.
George Twumasi: CEO, African Broadcasting Network
Hope Levy-Shepard: Trainee Solicitor, Linklaters
Tunji Akintokun: Director at Cisco & Your Future, Your Ambition
Cindy Sang: Founder, O Events & LAE Consultancy
Please join us as we discuss ideas, munch and bask in an ambience of smooth music as a live band serenades us all night long.
We have engaged the services of seasoned caterers to provide us with popular West African dishes and snacks flavoured to suit diverse palates.
Dress code is Smart Casual and all proceeds from tickets sold will go to charity.
