Openhouse Creative Talk: Jazmin Morris on Computational Creativity

OH! For our next Openhouse creative talk, we’ll be joined by Jazmin Morris, a creative computing artist, educator and all-round interesting person. Her work challenges power dynamics and hits on topics that matter to us, including identity and representation. Her media includes anything from participative digital experiences to electronics (and she’s got a penchant for old school gaming classic, Super Mario 64…). She’s spoken at some amazing events, lectured at Central Saint Martins and been on podcasts galore, so we can’t wait to hear Jazmin’s story.

What is Openhouse?

Openhouse is a series of creative talks and events from ThreeTenSeven, a brand and marketing agency on a mission to make people healthier. Openhouse has run for over 8 years, usually taking place 3 times a year in Leeds, though occassionally moving to Amsterdam or online.

It's non-profit, fully funded by ThreeTenSeven, and all proceeds in 2025 will go directly to CALM, the suicide prevention charity.

Why is Openhouse changing locations and limiting its tickets?

A quick story: When we started Openhouse 8+ years ago, it was tiny, relaxed and low-key, taking place in our (lovely) studio in Oakwood. We made cake, lounged on the sofas and filled our heads with diverse, inspiring perspectives just for the fun of it. As more people heard of Openhouse, we got bigger and bigger, and moved locations twice to fit you all in. The thing is, while we love all of the new faces, it became a bit of a handful to fit in around the day job and we started doing it less and less. That means that we started missing the point: creative people telling us their story, to regularly fill OUR heads full of interesting perspectives. We started worrying a bit too much about who would turn up, instead of making sure it was fun and fascinating.

So in 2025 we’re removing the drama and bringing Openhouse back in da house. Expect even more amazing speakers, free access to our beer fridge, snacks on the side and maybe some pizza. Oh, and it’s a totally accessible venue with step-free access.
