Event description

Description

The opening lecture of the 18th edition of the Odysseus Summer School will be dedicated to the burning issues of solidarity and asylum. The title evokes the image of a 'poisoned debate', used by French President Emmanuel Macron to describe the profound divisions among the Member States regarding relocation and the Dublin reform.

The lecture will take place just a few days after the European Council meeting of 28-29 June, where EU leaders will seek a common position on the reform of Dublin.

The opening speech will be given by Prof. Francesco MAIANI (Université de Lausanne) followed by a panel of experts, including:

Henrik NIELSEN, Head of Asylum Unit, European Commission

Sophie MAGENNIS, Regional Representative for EU Affairs UNHCR Brussels

NB. Registration via Eventbrite is only required for those who are NOT registered to the Odysseus Summer School as students.

For the participants registered for the entire Summer School: please sign up for the event through the link that has been sent to you together with the welcome package.
